Finding Your Identity in a Curated World

Image
Happy Monday,  beautiful souls. As rain falls softly outside, I'm reminded how these quiet moments invite us to look inward. In a world filled with curated perfection, these peaceful pauses help us ask the most important question: *Who am I beneath all the noise?* We scroll through endless feeds of flawless lives—perfect homes, dream vacations, professional triumphs. This curated world constantly whispers: *Why isn't your life this perfect?* I've felt this pressure deeply as a woman, mother, and entrepreneur. The demand to present a polished, always-put-together image can feel overwhelming. But this pursuit of perfection comes at a cost: we risk losing our true selves. In the race to meet worldly standards, we can drown out the most essential voice—the one that tells us who we really are, and whose we really are. Here's how we can find our way back to our true identity: 1. Choose Authentic Over Perfect Your value isn't in your flawless performance, but in your aut...

When Your To-Do List is Longer Than Your Day: Finding God in the Exhaustion

Image
This week has been rather hectic for me, to be honest most weeks are at this point. As I write this, my feet are throbbing. They’re sore from the long hours of standing—standing to bake, standing to sell, standing to cook and clean. I’ve been trying to balance it all: creating plans, following schedules, and crossing things off the never-ending list. But by the end of the day, I am simply EXHAUSTED. And in the midst of it all, trying to eat healthy or find energy for a workout can feel like a cruel joke. It’s a cycle that feels like it has no end. Let me walk you through a day in my life: * 1:30 AM:The alarm goes off. While the world sleeps, We start baking for our business, *Simply Sweet*. * 5:30 AM - 8:30 AM: We sell our baked goods. It’s a whirlwind of smiles, service, and sales. *  Morning Hustle: I freshen up my son—diaper change, PJs, brushing teeth, breakfast, and all the essential kissies and hugs. Then, I prep breakfast for my husband and myself. This is sometimes my first...

The Sacred Pace: Why Your Healing Journey is a Walk, Not a Sprint

Image
There was a season where I had it all together. My routines were down, my habits were strong, and my wellness felt like a well-oiled machine. But then, life happened. The profound tragedy of losing our baby, the whirlwind of starting our business, Simply Sweet, from a place of love and grief—it all collided, and my perfectly built consistency shattered.   In the exhaustion and the overwhelm, I found myself too tired to prep nourishing food, too drained to move my body, and reaching for the comfort of the very baked goods we were creating. The weight on my body became a testament to the weight on my heart. I felt like I had failed.   But in my desperation, I got on my knees. I began a fast, not for my body, but for my soul—to reset my mentality and align my spirit with God’s. I prayed over the challenges I was facing, and in the quiet, I heard His gentle whisper, clear and true: "This is a journey, not a race. And I am walking with you."   The world screams for speed, for ...

When Nourishment Wore a Muffin Top: A Story of Love and Weight

Image
There was a moment, in the raw and silent aftermath of losing our baby in February, when words ceased to exist. There was no language for that kind of pain. But there was a muffin. My husband brought it to me one morning, warm from the oven. It wasn’t just a baked good; it was a tangible, crumbly, sweet piece of his love when neither of us knew what to say or do. That single muffin became a ritual. It was a reason for him to get up and care, and for me to take a bite, to physically put something good into a body that felt like it had failed. From that small, loving act, a phoenix rose: our small business,  Simply Sweet . As we baked and tasted, perfected recipes and packed orders, my body began to change. The scale crept up. My clothes started to fit differently. In any other chapter of my life, this would have sent me into a tailspin of self-criticism. But this time, something shifted inside me. I looked in the mirror one day and saw not just extra weight, but a map of my survival...

Navigating Grief : One Day at a Time

Image
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on my journey, and if I’m being honest, I haven’t been my best self. It often feels like there’s always some obstacle to overcome, one challenge after another. On the 5th of February, I gave birth to a stillborn baby boy—something I never expected, something I never imagined I would have to face. We were so excited to welcome him into our family, and the loss has been incredibly painful. There are no words that truly capture the depth of emotions that come with losing a child. During this time, I’ve been meditating on the verse, “What do you do when the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak?” I find myself in that exact place—knowing what I need to do but struggling to find the strength to do it. I’ve been trying to get back into my online fitness classes, to regain some sense of normalcy, but every time I make progress, something happens that sets me back. It’s frustrating. I know working out would help me feel better, but I just don’t feel like it....

Staying Well Through Life’s Highs and Lows

As a dance fitness instructor, mom, wife, and entrepreneur, I know firsthand how life’s demands can sometimes feel overwhelming. Between juggling family, work, and personal responsibilities, it’s easy to put ourselves last. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that taking care of our physical and mental well-being is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. The Power of Movement Dance fitness has been my sanctuary. Moving my body isn’t just about staying in shape—it’s about releasing stress, boosting my mood, and reclaiming my energy. Whether it’s a full workout or just dancing in the kitchen while cooking dinner, movement has the power to heal. When you feel stuck in a low place, try shaking it off—literally. Play your favorite song, close your eyes, and just move. Navigating Loss and Challenges Life is unpredictable. We experience loss, setbacks, and challenges that can shake us to our core. I’ve had my share of difficult times, and what keeps me going is acknowledging my feeli...

The Importance of Mental Health in Wellness & Fitness

In the bustling world of wellness & fitness, it's easy to get caught up in the physical aspects—tracking mileage, or counting calories.  However, an often-overlooked element in the fitness equation is mental health.
